Don’t apologize for dying, Declan. Also, they should maybe disable/delete today’s data from the other droid before she reports them. I mean, yeah, it was unethical to recreate a dead person’s brain in a droid body, but now that he’s exists as a person, they really shouldn’t dispose of him just because he’s not the human he is supposed to be.

“now that he’s exists as a person, they really shouldn’t dispose of him just because he’s not the human he is supposed to be.”
And that’s exactly why it’s banned in 37 star systems.

Yeah, while Declan 2.0 shouldn’t exist due the big ethical line crossed to re-create him, he does exist, so hopefully those 37 star systems recognize it is too late to fix that by killing or wiping him without crossing another, far more important ethical line.

That’s some heavy news, though there was enough foreshadowing to make it unsurprising, and the fact that it is outlawed is something I’d expect as well since it’s a pretty popular (with good reason) trope in many science fiction settings.

In this case though, I rather agree with Siren. We don’t know how long Declan has been a ‘dolus’, and apparently he’s a one-time deal, but who knows what’s really been going on in this remote outpost lab? It reminds me of one of my favorite side-missions in Mass Effect 2 with a rogue mech manufacturing facility. Little or no human oversight, one little bug in the system, and then all heck breaks loose. Only problem here is, there’s no Commander Shepherd to clean up the mess.

Guess that answers my prior question.

Company doesn’t know

Jae acted alone even without the knowledge of the androids

The company cannot know as they would order Declans destruction to preserve their policy. Viewing him not as a person but expendable and improperly used assets.

Jae would at the least lose his position and at most be imprisoned.

Hopefully a way to peacefully keep lips sealed is able to be obtained.
